Caustic soda is also called sodium hydroxide, the molecular formula is NaOH, and it is one of the common plastic catalysts. Pure sodium hydroxide is composed of a sodium, hydrogen, and oxygen, with a density of 1.988 g/cm3, a boiling point of 1288NaOH, and a melting point of 317.9 °C. Caustic soda is actually a mixture. Edible alkali contains a small amount of magnesium sulfate and sodium chloride. It is an opaque crystal and appears white. In addition to being edible, sodium hydroxide can also be used as a cleaning agent, dissolving grease, dirt and ethanol, and reacting with acids to produce sodium chloride and hydrogen oxide.
